Barbara June Mccormick
July 10, 1920 — January 29, 2015
BARBARA "JUNE" McCORMICK, 94 of Jurupa Valley, CA, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Brookdale Assisted Living community. She had been living with her daughter Shari and husband Alex before recently moving to Brookdale.
June was born July 10, 1920 in Belgrade, NE. Her parents were Charles and Alice Jane West. Her father owned a butcher shop and her mother owned a bed & breakfast inn.
June was two years old when her family moved to Grant. She graduated from high school in Grant and attended business school in Long Beach, CA.
She married Dale McCormick from Madrid on August 23,1939 in Johnstown, CO. They continued to live in Grant where Dale was in the auto business. Some years later after moving the family to Ogallala, Dale opened the General Motors auto dealership and June was the secretary/bookkeeper to the superintendent for the Ogallala schools. She also was an accountant for Anderson CPA firm in Ogallala.
After living in Denver and Durango, CO for several years, June and Dale returned to Ogallala in 1982. They considered this home until Dale passed away in June of 2004, and June moved to California to live with her daughter the following year.
At the age of 87, June pursued her desire to draw. She soon found that she had natural talent and spent many hours over the next few years expanding her creativity. Her art will be a wonderful reminder of her inner peace and tranquility as conveyed by her landscape and animal life paintings.
In addition to her husband Dale, June was preceded in death by a son, Terryl; sister Hazel; and brothers Joe, Lloyd, and Jack.
June is survived by son Dennis McCormick and wife Kaye of Ogallala; daughter Shari McCormick and husband Alex Luna from Corona, CA; grandsons Randy Studt and wife Challice from Jacksonville, FL; Kevin McCormick of Denver, CO, and Scott McCormick and wife Pamela of Denver, CO.
June is survived also by 6 great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, February 12th, 2015 at 9AM at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Ogallala with Rev. Chuck Rager officiating. Interment of cremains will be in the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
Memorial book signing will be held on Wednesday, February 11th, from 1PM to 7PM at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home.
