BERNARD TORRES, 57 of Ogallala, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.
Bernard was born November 2, 1960, in Ogallala, Nebraska to Bivien and Elsie (Moves Camp) Torres. He attended Ogallala High School before going to work for the railroad, where he worked for nearly 20 years, mostly as a foreman. On July 17, 1986, Bernard married Barb Berry, and their union was blessed with 3 children, Ashley, Katherine & Brandon.
Bernard was large in stature and had a personality to match. He worked hard in his life and expected hard work from those around him. He was proud of the time he spent working on the railroad, and really enjoyed the brief time that he had with both his father and brother working on his line gang. He was a man who was rooted in his family and loved his heritage. Bernard also enjoyed the time he got to spend breaking and riding horses over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bivien and Elsie Torres; brother, Mario Torres; infant brother, Gerald Torres; along with several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife, Barb of Ogallala; daughters, Ashley and Katherine Torres, both of Ogallala; son, Brandon Torres of Sidney; 2 grandchildren, Isabelle Rodriquez and Onorio Rivas-Torres; his siblings, Elizabeth Torres of Ogallala, Lorenzo Torres of Ogallala, Orlando J. Torres of Ogallala, Jessica B. Adams of Ogallala, Vivien G. Torres of Ogallala; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
