BILL BORM, 83 of Ogallala, formerly of Lodgepole, passed away September 6, 2019, at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.
Bill was born October 18, 1935, at Ovid, Colorado to August and Anne (Lechman) Borm. Bill graduated from Chappel High School with the class of 1953. Bill entered the U.S. Army after high school, and following his honorable discharge, he went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad. On September 4, 1982, Bill married Dianne Wilbur at Sidney. The couple made their home in Sidney, and eventually Lodgepole for over 25 years. Bill's career with the railroad as a signal foreman spanned over 35 years. He retired from the Union Pacific in 1997.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman and animal lover and enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, and horseback riding.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tracy Borm; granddaughter, Shelly; and two sisters, Laurie Barnica and Joan Bell.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne of Ogallala; children, Brian (Rhonda) Borm of Oklahoma City, OK, Cory (Stacy) Borm of Cheyenne, WY, Kari (Mike) Barnes of Ogallala; 9 grandchildren, Jessica, Jared, Jesse, Austin, Karissa, Josh, Katie, Colton, and Cooper; step grandchildren, Cara and Meagan; great-grandchildren, Jensen, Logan and Wyatt; along with many other relatives and friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Lodgepole Depot Museum or St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chappell in Bill's memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chappell with Fathers Bryan Ernest and Roy Pasala Concelebrating. Burial with military honors will be in the Chappell Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chappell.
