Our high-spirited cousin, Bonnie June Hixon, 88 passed away peacefully on the morning of January 4, 2018 in the gentle-care of Indian Hills Healthcare in Ogallala, NE.
Bonnie June was born July 19, 1929 the only child of Charlotte G. (Robbins) Curley and Matt J. Curley, of the Clear Creek area in Nebraska. Bonnie was the great granddaughter of Edwin C. and Lana Williams, who homesteaded on Clear Creek, Western Keith County in Nebraska in December of 1885.
Bonnie enjoyed laughter, she found extreme joy in her animals, and she had a strong pioneer zest for life. She passionately loved her small patch of land in Keystone. This piece of land was her world. As many of her friends and neighbors knew, she 'never' wanted to leave....she described this land as "My Blue Heaven."
Interment of cremains will be at Ash Hollow Cemetery, alongside her Mother and Father in Lewellen, NE, at a later date.
Prairie Hills Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of arrangements.
Online condolences are welcome at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.
Peace be with our Bonnie Girl in her next journey; may that twinkle in her eye shine on.
A deep heartfelt 'thank you' from Bonnie's many cousins to Bonnie's Guardian, Mary Huffman, the caregivers at Indian Hills Healthcare, and ALL the wonderful folks of Keystone, Ogallala, and Lewellen who have been there to extend a helping hand, share good times and fun stories along the way with this vibrant ol-gal. She treasured her community. Blessings to you All.
