Charles Colson, 68, of Catlin, IL passed away at his home with family by his side on Saturday April 1, 2017. Charles was born the son of Orville and Ruth (Bannon) Colson on January 12, 1949 in Grant, NE.

Charles married Vernest Jacobs on November 28th, 1972. They had three children together, Robert, Sarah, and Melissa, then adopted two more, Briana and Tylan.

Charles leaves behind two sons, Robert (Toni) Colson and Tylan (August Booe) Colson, three daughters Sarah (Preston) Arnsperger, Melissa (Doug) Halls and Briana (Cody Newell) Colson, ten grandchildren, Darian Colson, Alexis Colson, Kaden Ellis, Seven Ellis, Ava Ellis, Bryan Burks, Henry Burks, Athena Burks, Colton Burks and David Halls, two great grandchildren Kylee and Kynlee Newell, two brothers, Richard (Vicki) Colson and Edward (Pat) Colson and one sister Mary (Jeff) Brown.

Charles served with honor in the United States Army, completing two tours in Vietnam. He enjoyed golf, competition shooting and collecting guns. Charles rode in many rodeos when he was a younger man. He was a member of the American Legion in Paxton, NE for over forty years. Charles was one of the first people hired when AutoZone warehouse came to Danville. He helped build it, then stayed as maintenance chief to keep things running. Charles most of all enjoyed the time he got to spend with his family.

A Celebration of Charles' life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center at 3940 N Vermilion St, Danville, IL on Tuesday April 4, 2017 at 6pm. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4-6 on Tuesday night. Burial will be on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 12:30pm at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, NE.
