Clyde Peters, age 88 of Ogallala, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.
Clyde was born August 28, 1925 at Ogallala, Nebraska to Fred Lester and Mary Jane (Younker) Peters. He attended Ogallala High School.
On October 8, 1944, he married Ethel West at Saint Francis, Kansas, and together they raised 7 children.
Clyde was a general contractor and specialized in masonry work. There are a number of building and structures that bear his signature, including both the Methodist and Catholic churches in Ogallala. Clyde eventually retired from the trade in 1996.
Clyde and Ethel greatly enjoyed spending their summers at their cabin in Alaska. He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family.
Clyde was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel in 2011 and his parents.
Survivors include his children, Karon (Ron) Holscher of Ogallala, Sandra (Wendell) Mickelson of Cody, WY, Patsy (Dwayne) Mundorf of Omaha, Myrna Spurgin of Paxton, Nora (Harold) Simpson of Aurora, CO, Lonnie (Marla) Peters of Ogallala and Susie Peters of Fort Myers, FL; 18 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred Schwasinger of Ogallala.
A memorial has been established in his memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com. The service will be streamed at both methodistchurchogallala.com and prairiehillsfuneralhome.com for those unable to attend the service.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Ogallala with Reverend Chuck Rager officiating. Inurnment will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
Visitation for memorial book signatures will be held on Friday, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala.
