DAROLD CARL PRIESNER, 82 longtime Ogallala resident, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Cascade Park Gardens in Tacoma, WA.
Darold was born September 28, 1934 in Kramer, Nebraska to Carl H. and Faye (Bussell) Priesner. He was a graduate of Ogallala High School class of 1952. Darold went on to attend Nebraska Wesleyan University in pursuit of an engineering degree
On February 12, 1955, Darold was united in marriage to Wanda (Wood) at Grant. The couple made their home on the family farm south of Brandon and in Ogallala. Darold worked as a mechanical contractor for many years, owning and operating the family business Priesner Plumbing, Electric and Heating. Darold and Wanda continued to farm south of Brandon throughout the years, spending extra time in Perkins County during the summer months. After 50 years, Darold retired in the early 2000's from both farming and his business.
Darold served in the National Guard. He also served as President of the Nebraska Plumbing, Heating, Cooling Contractors Association, and as an Elk's trustee.
Darold enjoyed having his pilot's license for many years, making use of his blue piper cub whenever he got the chance. He loved spending time at Lake McConaughy boating and fishing, and was an avid goose, pheasant and deer hunter. Darold was also known to be an excellent cook, and lent his talents to many of the Elk's functions over the years. He loved to interact with people and had a unique sense of humor. His quick wit was often exhibited with a dry subtlety that wasn't always obvious, which his friends and family came to appreciate. Darold also had a pretty good Donald Duck impersonation that kept his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and Cascade Park Garden staff smiling. Darold will be remembered as a kind, honorable, creative man who was devoted to his family.
A memorial has been established in his memory with the intention of supporting research in Alzheimers, ALS and Leukemia, which were all causes that were dear to Darold. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
