David Lee German, age 46 of Ogallala, passed away August 3, 2015 at Parkland Memorial Hospital at Dallas, TX.
David was born February 21, 1969 at Imperial, Nebraska to Calvin K and Genevieve “Jenny” (Smith) German. He graduated from Imperial High School and went on to attend the University of New Mexico, University of Nebraska at Lincoln and later University of Maine - Orono where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
David was a kindred spirit, and held a wide variety of hobbies and enjoyments including hang gliding, scuba diving, piloting air crafts, cooking and caring for animals to name a few. David also enjoyed private sailing and had navigated the area around the Florida West Keys. He had also built a couple of boats himself. As a young man, David spent time all over the US. Most recently, he had returned home to the Imperial area to work on the family ranch, before making his home south of Ogallala. David purchased a radio communication substation that he worked tirelessly to remodel, eventually coining it, “The Batcave.”
David is preceded in death by his mother, Jenny Smith German and his brother, Scot.
Survivors include his 4 children, Alacey, Amber, Nyche and Nasheema; his father, Calvin K German of Imperial; sisters, Sue Lyn (Ramico) Blackmon of Monument, CO, Andrea (Kent) Roberson of Colorado Springs, CO; brother, Eric (Brenda) German of Imperial; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in David’s memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the New Hope Church, 319 East O Street, Ogallala, NE with Pastor Phil Ewert officiating.
