Donald Sheldon, 66 of Ogallala, formerly of Brule, passed away at his home.
Don was born June 13, 1953, at Lewellen, Nebraska, to Stanley and Clemitina (Palu) Sheldon. He graduated from Brule High School.
Don made his home in Brule for most of his life, where he worked in farming and primarily in carpentry. Don was a hard worker and skilled in his craft. Eventually, health issues centered around his heart necessitated a change of pace. Most recently, Don was making his home in Ogallala.
Don was always an enjoyable visit and seemed to have an unending number of interesting stories to share. As a result, there weren't many people who met Don that walked away without being befriended. When Don's health took a downturn, he received a specialized ventricular assist device that kept his blood circulating. From that point on, he viewed life a little differently and recognized the blessings in each day. Don was a sarcastic, gregarious cowboy. He didn't shy away from speaking his mind and had moved beyond being concerned about how he was perceived for it. He had a proclivity for good country music and remained an avid Husker fan through thick and thin.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Janice Guest; Rhonda Leonard.
Survivors include his children, Eric Sheldon of Denver and Angela Sheldon of Omaha; sister, Roberta Pringle of Pueblo, CO; brother, Lance (Sue) Sheldon of Belgrade, MT; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial has been established in Don's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.
Services will be held on Monday, June 8, 2020, at 1:30 pm at GracePoint Church in Ogallala with Pastor Curtis Tschetter officiating.
Prairie Hills Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of arrangements.
