DONNA J. ANDERSON, 73 of Ogallala, NE, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Ogallala Community Hospital.
Donna was born March 17, 1945 at Sidney, Nebraska to Lawrence and Florentine (Murray) Kealy. She attended Sidney High School.
On October 13, 1962, Donna married Kenneth "Andy" Anderson at Sidney. The couple made their home in Sidney, Sterling, CO, Hot Springs, SD, and Harvard, NE before eventually settling in North Platte in 1973. Donna worked in nursing for 34 years at the hospital, retiring in 2002. In 2004, Donna moved to Ogallala to be closer to family.
More than anything, Donna enjoyed being with her grandchildren. She was very creative and loved doing crafts. Donna liked spending time swimming at the Rec Center and volunteering at the Jumble Shop. She was also a wonderful writer and often channeled her skill through poetry. Donna was a very accepting person. She always tried to withhold judgments, and take people as they were.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andy; an infant sister, Shirley Ann; father and mother-in-law, Alvin and Katie Anderson; brothers, Harold, and George; sister, Pat Chafin; brother-in-law Alan (Sherri) Anderson; 2 nephews, Greg Heckel, and Jared Anderson.
Survivors include her children, Jerry Anderson of Big Springs, Sheryl (Martin) Marquez of Big Springs, Charlene (Bryan) Lemmer of Ogallala, Tara Cobb of Ogallala; 10 grandchildren, Stacie, Cassie, Anna, Amanda, Matthew, Colby, Jerimee, Shina, Christina, and Andrew; 8 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Bill (Marcia) Kealy of Cheyenne WY, Kathleen (John) Garcia of Cozad, Colleen (Dave) Seifried of Crook, Sharon Kealy of Kearney, brothers-in-law, Gene Chafin of Sterling, Ron (Linda) Anderson of UT; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Jerry) Heckel of Bayard; Gloria Kealy of Spokane, WA, Val Kealy of Cheyenne, WY, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in her memory for later designation. Condolences can be shared online at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018, at 10:30 am at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala with Father Bryan Ernest as Celebrant. Interment of cremains will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, NE.
A rosary will be recited at 10:00 am at the church on Monday morning prior to the service.
Those that wish to sign the memorial book may do so on Sunday, April 15th from 1 pm to 4 pm at Prairie Hills Funeral Home.
