EARLA MAE JIMENEZ, 93 of Ogallala, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Ogallala Community Hospital.
Earla was born November 6th, 1921 at Lewellen, NE the daughter of Granville Luther and Lena Ann (Thompson) Stout. She grew up in Lewellen where her father was a banker and her mother was a school teacher. She graduated from the Lewellen High School with the class of 1938. During the early part of World War II she worked in an airplane factory in California.
Earla married John Seth Annable in St. Francis, KS. And they made their home on the Annable farm southwest of Ogallala, NE where they raised their family. She worked for Goodall Electric in Ogallala for a number of years.
Earla married Sam Jimenez in Cheyenne, WY, and they moved to McCook, NE where she ran a ceramic shop called Ceramics by Earla. She especially enjoyed making ceramic items for her family. Later they moved to Grand Island, NE for several years before moving to Loveland, CO, and they eventually relocated to Ogallala.
Earla was an exceptionally good cook and enjoyed hosting Holiday dinners. She specialized in fried chicken and making sour creme raisin pie.
Earla was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She really enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up. She always prided herself with the fact that she was able to remain in her own home to the very end.
She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in McCook, NE.
Earla was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Mylan Stout, her 1st husband, John Seth Annable, 2nd husband, Sam Jimenez; and a daughter in law, Myra Annable.
Earla is survived by her son Terry Annable of Ogallala, son John Annable (Dianne) of Ogallala, son Craig Annable (Velida) of Tucson, AZ., daughter Kathy Sizer (James) of Ogallala and daughter Peg (Richard) Huffman of Grand Island, NE; 19 grandchildren and by 20 great grandchildren; brother in law, Frank (Delia) Jimenez of Big Springs; sister in law, Annie Alvarado of Loveland, CO; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial has been established in her memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will also be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the First Congregational Church with Pastor Lisa Hadler officiating. Inurnment will be in the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
Visitation for memorial book signatures will be on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Prairie Hills Funeral Home.
