Eldon L. Brock Sr.

Eldon L. Brock, Sr., 86, of Lewellen passed away peacefully on May 8, 2023 at the Azria Health Nursing Home in Sutherland. Eldon was born on June 20, 1936 in Burchard to Donald and Sylvina (Kussman) Brock.

On February 28, 1953, Eldon was united in marriage to Mary Ann Sommers. Their union was blessed with three children, Eldon Jr., Mark, and Kevin Brock.

Eldon began his career at Goodyear Rubber Company in Lincoln and then transitioned to roofing in Lincoln before moving to Denver where he continued his roofing and framing work. Eldon was involved in manufacturing pre-hung door units before working as a superintendent for a home building company. He eventually decided to open his own home building company which he operated for many years. Eldon dedicated over 50 years to his craft before retiring to Lake McConaughy in the mid-1990s, a place where he and his wife had loved visiting since the early 1970s.

Throughout the years, Eldon loved boating and fishing on Lake McConaughy. He always had a project he was working on, whether for himself or one of the community projects that belonged to a neighbor. Eldon also had a great love for animals where both he and Mary Ann always had a big heart for the cats and dogs that came into their lives.

Eldon was preceded in death by: wife Mary Ann (Sommers) Brock in 2019, his parents Donald and Sylvina (Kussman) Brock, and brothers Paul and Larry Brock.

Eldon was survived by: sisters, Sharon Canfield of Kimball Minnesota, Theresa (Ivan) Robyler of Lincoln Nebraska; children, Eldon (Suzi) Brock Jr. of Oshkosh Nebraska, Mark (Carolyn) Brock of Sidney Nebraska, and Kevin Brock of Lincoln Nebraska; grandchildren, Amanda and Andrew Brock, Kelli (Mike) Maahs, Dustin (Katie) Brock, James Brock; great-grandchildren, Reese and Trinity Maahs, Lea, Beck, and Savannah (McCready) Brock, and Jackson and Emery Brock; great-great-grandchild, Spencer Brock Nyhoff along with many other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established in Eldon's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com where the services will be streamed live.

Memorial services will be on June 3, 2023 at 3 pm at Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala Nebraska. No inurnment is planned.
