Genevieve L. Johnson, age 91 of Ogallala, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Ogallala Community Hospital.
Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10th at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11th at St. Luke’s Catholic Church with Fr. Bryan Ernest as celebrant. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
Genevieve was born June 2, 1921 at Indianola, Nebraska, the daughter of August and Anna (Cisar) Vlasin. She married Ardell “Swede” Johnson on April 19, 1941 at Elsie, Nebraska. Genevieve was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was a very loving person who touched many, many lives. She opened her heart and home to all and no one ever left without a full belly as she loved to cook.
Survivors include her eleven children, Bernard (Patricia) Johnson of Kearney, NE, Leonard (Marietta) Johnson of Ogallala, Jeanette (Jules) Hoschouer of Julesburg, CO, Patricia McCormick of Ogallala, Eileen (Charles) Culek of Kimball, NE, Dennis (Rexene) Johnson of Clive, IA, Donald Johnson of Atwood, KS, Robert (Cynthia) Johnson of Big Springs, NE, Carolyn (Linda) Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, Tony (Ronda) Johnson of Ogallala and Lynette (Albert) Paquet of Windsor, CO; 28 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren; sisters Elizabeth Stubblefield of Aurora, CO, Marie Smith of Wauneta, NE and Annabelle Vapenik of Wauneta, NE. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ardell Johnson, five brothers and one sister.
