Gerald "Gary" Bayley
August 22, 1947 — April 6, 2019
GERALD "GARY" BAYLEY, 71 of Kearney, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Central Nebraska Veterans' Home in Kearney.
Gary was born August 22, 1947, at Lewellen, the first child born to Lauren and Kathleen (Kildare) Bayley.
He attended school at St. Luke's, then St. John's Seminary at Elkhorn, Ne., after two years, he returned to Ogallala and graduated with the class of 1965. After graduation, he studied at Kearney State for two years before he enlisted in the Navy in 1967. He served in the Philippines and Vietnam. After his separation from the Navy, he continued his studies at Kearney State. He married Linda Gildersleeve, and they were blessed with a son, Brent.
Gary worked for Frontier Airlines for nearly 20 years until bankruptcy closed the airline. He then returned to Ogallala and was employed at American Shizuki and Sidney Roofing. Gary enjoyed time with family, friends and all sports except soccer and pro basketball. He was also an avid reader which he got from his mother who was a teacher. Gary followed in his dad's footsteps for playing and watching sports especially the Yanks and Huskers. He will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lauren and Kathleen.
He is survived by his son, Brent (Kat) Bayley; grandson, Collin and granddaughter, Sophie; extra special friend, Marty Lane; brother, L.D. (Connie) Bayley of Ogallala; nieces, Reggie Skinner (Jeff Gette) of Ogallala; Steele (John) Sich and their children Brock and Merritt Skinner and Pryce Gette; Tetly and Rolston Moore; uncle, Rodney (Coleen) Bayley of Springfield, MO.; cousins, LeAnn and Carol; and aunt, Dorie (Jim) Lee of Elsie.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 1:30 PM at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala, NE with Father Bryan Ernest as Celebrant. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala.
