Geraldine "Gerry" Rae Heidemann, 81 of Big Springs, passed away Monday, September 10, 2018, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.
Gerry was born May 10, 1937, at Ogallala, Nebraska to John and Viola (Schoff) Sauers. She was baptized on May 30, 1937, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ogallala. At a young age, Gerry's family moved to Big Springs, where they farmed. She attended the Cottonwood Corner Country School and was confirmed on March 18, 1951, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Big Springs. Gerry graduated from Big Springs High School with the class of 1955.
On November 26, 1955, Gerry was united in marriage to Kenneth "Red" Heidemann. The couple made their home in Big Springs, where they were part owners in the Heidemann Machine Shop, and their union was blessed with four children, Mark, Todd, Ryan, and Jodi.
Gerry was a hard worker and, along with her children, they delivered the Omaha World Herald paper for many years as well as a lawn mowing service. She truly enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-granchildren.
Gerry was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Ronald Sauers.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth "Red" Heidemann of Big Springs; her children, Mark (Shelle) Heidemann of Big Springs, Todd (Brenda) Heidemann of Brule, Ryan Heidemann of Big Springs, and Jodi (Dayton) Christensen of Big Springs; 4 grandchildren, Chelsey, Ashley, Brittney, and Cameron; 4 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Olivea, Peyton, and Eleanor; brother, Robert (Cara) Sauers of Ogallala; sister-in-law, Geneva Sauers of Julesburg, CO; along with many other relatives and friends.

Committal of Cremains will be on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Big Springs Cemetery with Rev. Trenton D. Christensen officiating.
