James P. Tollerud

James P. Tollerud, 87, of Lewellen, a former longtime Aurora, CO resident, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, at Ogallala Community Hospital.

James was born on December 26, 1936, in Bismarck, North Dakota, to Delbert and Elizabeth (Grady) Tollerud. He graduated from Esmond High School in North Dakota and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in June 1958.

James married Jacqueline "Jackie" Marnes Longto on September 21, 1961, in Bexar County, Texas.

During his 15 years of dedicated service in the Air Force, James worked as a nuclear weapons instructor and later continued his career in civil service with the Air Force, doing the same work, retiring in 1973. Following retirement, James embraced a quieter life. James spent most of his life in Aurora, Colorado, before moving to Westminster, Colorado and later Lewellen, NE, to be closer to his daughter.

James is survived by his daughter, Judith (Michael) Robinson; grandchildren, Derek (Jessica) Robinson and Shannon (Andy) Fisher; great-grandchildren, Andy (Denyce) Fisher and Colton Fisher; Mateo, Marcus and Merek Aguayo Shannon; great-great-granddaughter Alyce Rose Fisher; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie; his parents, Delbert and Elizabeth Tollerud; his brothers Gordon, Clayton and Robert Tollerud; and his sisters, Dorothia Kuist and Patricia Eberle.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., at the Lewellen Community Wesleyan Church, with Jeff Mitchell officiating. No inurnment is planned at this time.
