JANE ADKINS, 52, former Ogallala resident, passed away Monday, April 25 2016 at Fort Collins, CO.
Jane was born August 29, 1963 on Highway 30 between 9th and 12th St. in North Platte, NE to Lynn and Naomi (Groves) Wade. She graduated from Ogallala High School in 1981 and went on to attend National College in Rapid City, SD where she received a degree in Business Administration. Following her schooling, she returned to Ogallala, where she worked for State Farm Insurance and Wade Bus Lines, before going to work at Safeway, a job she held for 16 years. In the summer of 2013, she moved to Hastings, where she periodically assisted with services at Apfel Funeral Home. In 2015 Jane was diagnosed with cancer, and later moved to Fort Collins, CO to be closer to family.
Jane enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She would often keep busy with home improvement projects, and generally liked to stay active. While in Ogallala, Jane enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially at the lake. In recent years, she took up and enjoyed playing golf. Jane worked hard to maintain close relationships with her children, who she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Barry.
Survivors include her children, Brett Adkins and his wife Beckie of Lake Helen, FL, Brittany Adkins and Joe Schilz of Fort Collins, CO, Bryce Adkins of Denver, CO, and Brock Adkins; sister, Lynelle; and several other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in Jane's memory for later designation. Condolences can be shared online at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Services will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ at 11:00am with Pastor Lisa Hadler officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home.
