Janice Marie Zellaha

Janice Marie Zellaha, 78 of Lewellen, passed away Saturday, June 11th, 2016 at the Perkins County Hospital in Grant, NE.
Janice was born July 30, 1937 at Milford, Iowa to Hartman "Hart" and Alice (Moritz) Christofferson. She graduated from Milford High School.
On October 6, 1956, Jan married Virgil Zellaha at Milford. The couple made their home in Spirit Lake, Iowa where Jan worked at Mountain Bell Phone Company as an operator. The couple would later move to Hartley, IA before moving to Denver, CO, where Jan continued to work as an operator and Virgil worked in the retail boat industry. Jan and Virgil retired to Lake McConaughy in the late 1980's.
Jan loved baking and cooking. Her family always looked forward to the Holiday Season, when they would be treated to her delicious pies and Christmas cookies. Jan loved music and playing the piano. She and Virgil also enjoyed dancing whenever they got the chance. Jan also shared a great love of the outdoors with her husband, and the family spent many cherished moments outside and on the water.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents and 4 sisters, Ruth Ann Christofferson, Cleone Jones, Sylven Christofferson and Phyllis Betson-Hixon.
Survivors include her husband, Virgil of Lewellen; 3 daughters, Cynthia (Brian) Cook of Larkspur, CO, Marcy Starner of Indianapolis, IN, and Sandra (Robin) Ball-George of Littleton, CO; 6 grandchildren, Ryan, Linsey, Ryker, C.J., Chadd, and Madison; 3 great grandchildren, Colton, Aubree, and Jackson; brother, Wayne (Dort) Christofferson of Lawrence, KS; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Jan's memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home. Interment of cremains will be at the Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.
