JEAN "BEAN" MARIE OLSON, 76 of Brule, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at her home.
Jean was born February 8, 1945, at Ogallala to Elmer James (Pete) and Mary Dolores (Connelly) Brown. She graduated from Ogallala High School with the class of 1963 before graduating from the Denver College of Business in 1964.
In 1964, Jean married Laverne Dale Meyer, and their marriage was blessed with three children. In 1971, Jean married Arlo Olson and their union was blessed with a son. Jean held a number of positions over the years, including working at the FCA Elevator in the office, at Cenex Convenience Store, Brule Schools, and Happy Jacks. Jean and Arlo made their home at Brule, where they lived most of their entire married lives. They enjoyed their latter retirement years in the Sandhills on their son's ranch.
Jean loved bowling, sewing and crafts. She was active in Cub Scouts when her boys were involved. Jean also enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in school sports and music concerts. She was a member of the Red Hat Society for several years.
Jean was devout in her Catholic faith and was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church. She also served on the Altar Society for many years.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bill Brown of Bloomington, MN.
Survivors include her husband, Arlo Olson of Brule; children, Carwin (Marge) Olson of Mitchell, Jim (Kandace) Olson of Ashby, Mona Terry of Sutherland, and Teresa (Russ) Skrdlant of Hastings; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial has been established in Jean's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the services will be streamed live.
Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 10:30 am at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala with Fr. Bryan Ernest as Celebrant. The Rosary will be recited at 10 am at the church.
Visitation will be on Monday, from 2 pm until 6 pm, at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home of Ogallala.
