Joe E. Warner, age 83 of Beaver City, former resident of Kearney, passed away Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Beaver City Manor.
Joe was born April 24, 1930 in Holbrook, Nebraska to Robert and Rose (Hilker) Warner.
Joe graduated from Holbrook High School with the class of 1948. Two years later in 1950, Joe was united in marriage to Eunice Bowers, and the couple made their home in Holbrook before later moving to Hastings. Their union was blessed with 3 children, Sonia, Sally and Doug.
The Warner's resided in McCook and Imperial before moving to Kearney in the late 1960’s. While in Kearney, Joe spent most of his career in sales. He sold cars, appliances and furniture. Joe's jobs offered him the chance to interact with many types of people, which he always enjoyed.
In 1977, Joe moved from Kearney, and spent most of the next 30 years in North Platte. There he served as a janitor at the public school for several years. While in North Platte he also worked for a local pharmacy, often making their deliveries to the nursing homes, where he loved to connect with people and visit. In 2009, Joe returned to Kearney to be closer to his family.
Joe had an engaging personality, an easy smile and a good sense of humor. He was also an animal lover. Joe was a past member of the Elks Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Warner; twin sister, Joan Reiland; sister Norma Jean Layman, brother-in-law, Robert Layman; sister-in-law, Phyllis Warner; an infant niece, Ann Elizabeth Reiland, and a nephew Damian James Warner.
Survivors include his 2 daughters, Sonia (Walt) Altman of Sebring, FL, Sally (Doug) Ferguson of Kearney; son, Doug (Rachelle) Warner of Elm Creek; 4 grandchildren; Pat (Sara) Ferguson of Omaha & Cole Ferguson of Kearney, Megan & Luke Warner of Elm Creek; 2 great grandchildren, Noah and Stella Ferguson of Omaha; former spouse, Eunice Warner of Kearney; 2 brothers, Robert (Marjorie) Warner, Jr. of Arapahoe, Jerome Warner of Denver, CO; sister-in-law, Pat Warner of Raleigh, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 4th at 10:30AM at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney with Pastor Lappe officiating. Inurnment will be in the Arapahoe Cemetery.
