Judy Renee (Burton) Shepardson was born March 23, 1948, to Ivan and Betty Burton in North Platte, NE. Judy passed away on March 12, 2025, in North Platte, NE. Judy grew up in Ogallala, Nebraska, and graduated from Ogallala High School in 1966. She then pursued her cosmetology certification from Hollywood Beauty College in Denver, Colorado. In 1968, she married Garry L. Shepardson, beginning a partnership rooted in love and service to others.
Judy lived, worked as a hairdresser, and also owned and operated her own beauty shop in Paxton, Nebraska, for most of her life. One of Judy's greatest legacies lies in the impact she had on her family, particularly her nephews Scott (Tiffany), Phillip (Jamie), and Eric (Jennifer) Picquet, whom she and Garry played a significant role in raising.
Known affectionately as "Aunt Judy" to over eighteen nieces and nephews, she embodied unconditional love and support. Her four great-nieces and nephews - Caden, Kylee, Ashlynn, and Ian Picquet - held a special place in her heart, calling her their "Grandma Judy." Their presence in her life brought her immense joy, as did all of her extended family and friends.
Those who knew Judy will forever remember her sense of humor, hugs, and her selfless generosity. Her love for Garry remained steadfast throughout her life, and in later years, her dog Sid brought her much joy and companionship. She had a love for the outdoors and a passion for travel that she passed on to many family members, especially her nieces and nephews. The void left by her absence will be felt deeply by all whose lives she touched.
Judy is survived by her sisters Kay Leibensperger of Plano, TX, Joyce Butterfield of Thornton, CO, Janea Pinkerton (Jim) of North Platte, NE, and brother Gene (Anne) Burton of Fullerton, NE, along with her beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who were blessed to experience her love.
Family and friends find comfort in knowing that Judy's spirit of kindness and compassion lives on in the lives she influenced.
