Karen Dorothy McLaughlin

Karen D. McLaughlin, 81, of Ogallala, Nebraska, passed away on November 16, 2024, at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.

Karen was born on May 11, 1943, in Denver, Colorado, to Samuel and Dorothy (Dopheide) Miller. She pursued a career in banking, serving as a personal banker for many years.

Karen married Leon (Fuzzy) McLaughlin on November 23, 1960, in Denver, Colorado. Their union was blessed with three children, Jeff, Robin, and Kim.

In 1966 Sandy, a friend from High School began to share with Karen what she had been learning from a Bible Study with Jehovah's Witnesses. Karen loved what she was learning from the Bible and after comparing this with what was taught in the Lutheran Church, she left the church and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in April 1969.

In September 1969, the family moved to Fort Morgan, and later split time between there and Denver over the years. Following Leon's passing in 2007, Karen relocated to Ogallala with her daughter Kim in 2008.

Karen was a devoted grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was an ardent fan of the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos. Karen had a flair for arts and crafts and loved to decorate her home seasonally. Family vacations in the mountains were some of her fondest memories.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Leon.

She is survived by her children: Jeff (Ronda) McLaughlin, Robin (Joe) Randall, and Kim McLaughlin; five grandchildren: Drew, Melynda, Tiffany, Troy and Kayleigh. three great-grandchildren: Madison, Katelynn and Jordan as well as numerous relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held on December 7, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Ogallala. No interment of cremains is planned.
