KATHLEEN M. BAYLEY, 93 of Ogallala, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.
Kathleen was born March 1, 1925, on a farm north of Ogallala, the third of five children born to James and Kathryn (Duffy) Kildare. She attended school at Ogallala, graduating with the class of 1942. After graduating, she studied at Kearney State to become a teacher.
Kathleen taught at three country schools and ended her teaching career at St. Luke's Catholic School. She had also been employed at Lloyd's Clothing Store and the gas company.
In 1946, Kathleen was married to Lauren Bayley in a double wedding at St. Luke's Catholic Church that included her sister, Mary Ellen and Lauren's brother, Jack.
Kathleen and Lauren were blessed with two sons, Gerald "Gary" Bayley of Kearney, and Lauren Dee "Howdy" (Connie) Bayley of Ogallala; one grandson, Brent (Kat) Bayley of Sacramento, CA; 2 step granddaughters, Reggie Skinner of Ogallala and Steeley Mohr of Kearney; 2 great-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren; sister, Dorie (Jim) Lee of Elsie; brother-in-law, Rod Bayley; along with many nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Lauren; brothers, Tom & Hubert Kildare; sister, Mary Ellen Bayley; niece, Sadie Allison; nephew, Bill Kildare; great-nephew, Tommy Colson; as well as all of her aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorials are suggested to St. Luke's Catholic School in Kathleen's memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala with Fr. Bryan Ernest as Celebrant. A Rosary will be recited one-half hour prior to service time. Interment will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala.
