KATIE FAESSER, 92 of Ogallala, NE, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.
Katie was born March 20, 1922, the youngest of 7 children, in the Ukraine, to Alexander and Maria Schepp.
On December 26, 1945 Katie married Albert Faesser at Rottenburg an der laaber, Germany. The couple made their home in Rottenburg, Germany, where they were blessed with 2 sons, Art and Vic. In 1952, at the age of 30, Katie and Albert moved from Germany to Ogallala, Nebraska where they lived the rest of their married lives. The couple was blessed with another son, Al.
Katie was a dedicated wife and mother. She was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables. She and Albert could often be found working together in their garden. She enjoyed canning, cooking and baking. She baked homemade bread every week for her family, and sometimes would treat them to one of her specialties, apple strudel.
Katie's life was enriched when she became a grandmother. She cherished the times when all of the family was together.
Katie was a long-time member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala where she had been active in the Altar Society. She also really enjoyed being involved in the Birthday Club and RSVP as a volunteer over the years.
Katie was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Katie is lovingly survived by her husband, Albert Faesser of Ogallala; 3 sons, Father Art Faesser of Kearney, Vic (Irene) Faesser of Pawnee City, and Al (Mary) Faesser of Ogallala; 6 grandchildren, Matt Faesser of Laramie, WY, Andy Faesser of Lubbock, TX, Christie (Michael) Weston of Lincoln, Monica (Mark) Pomajzl of Lincoln, Heather (Bob) McEvoy of Clarkson, Diana (Joshua) Holthaus of Seneca, KS; 11 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends in both the U.S. and Germany.
A memorial has been established in her memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will also be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala with Father Art Faesser presiding and Bishop William Dendinger, Father Bryan Ernest and priests of the Diocese of Grand Island concelebrating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery
Visitation will be Monday, February 2, 2015 from 1:00PM - 4:00PM at Prairie Hills Funeral Home with a Christian Wake service and Rosary at 6:30PM at St. Luke's Catholic Church.
