Leland Ulrich

LELAND "Pete" ULRICH, 81 of Ogallala, NE, passed away, surrounded by family, on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the Perkins County Hospital in Grant, NE.

Pete was born November 9, 1941 at Julesburg, CO to Herbert Ulrich and Irene Rochlitz. He lived and worked on the Big Springs family farm with his parents and siblings. Later he formed his own successful painting company in Denver Colorado. He married Pam and had two children Jeff and Darcy. He married Dee June 22, 1978, and to this union one son, Justin was born. The family lived in Denver, CO for many years.

Pete and Dee moved to their home near Lake McConaughy for their retirement years. Pete continued to work for several years at Lake McConaughy which was a place that brought him much happiness.

Pete enjoyed all things associated with the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, especially fishing on Lake McConaughy. He and his sons took yearly trips to Kansas and other favorite fishing holes. Pete and his family spent many hours on their pontoon boat at Lake Mac and shared their catch with others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, two sisters, brother-in-law, a niece and nephew.

He is survived by his wife Dee, his daughter, Darcy (husband Brent) Robertson, sons, Jeffrey (Judy) Ulrich of Denver, CO and Justin Ulrich of Denver, CO. Grandchildren, Courtney, Kelsey, Cody, Elissa, and Connor. Great-Grandchildren, Azlee, Evelyn, Kayda, Addison, Emberly, and Ry. Sister-in-law, Dawn, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family and friends were important to Pete. Unselfish even in death, Pete donated his body to research at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Lincoln in order to help others struggling with COPD.

A celebration of life will be held at the Hayloft located in Front Street, Ogallala, NE on June 10, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.

Prairie Hills Funeral Home of Ogallala assisted the Ulrich family.
