Lonnie Tickle

LONNIE TICKLE, 66 of Ogallala, NE, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Lonnie was born July 3, 1949 at Grant, Nebraska to Howard J. and Opal V. (Echternach) Tickle. He graduated from Grant High School with the class of 1967 and attended Kearney State College. Lonnie went on to serve in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
On September 10, 1977, Lonnie married Sherri Young at the Congregational Church in Ogallala. The couple made their home in Ogallala and were blessed with a son, Keith. Lonnie worked at the Ogallala Gas Company, which eventually became K N Energy. Lonnie would later work at PrimeStar briefly before taking a position in maintenance with the Ogallala Public Schools. In 2003, Lonnie took a job with the City of Ogallala as the Cemetery Manager, retiring in the Spring of 2015.
Lonnie was an avid Husker fan and loved to play golf. He was a member of the American Legion.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Tickle; mother-in-law, Lorraine Young; sister-in-law, Karen Loden; and nephew, Trevor Tickle.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Sherri of Ogallala; son, Keith (Jill) Tickle of Rialto, CA; brothers, Melvin Tickle of Ogallala; Harold (Carol) Tickle of Alexandria, VA, Gerald (Freddie) Tickle of Cozad, Marvin (Bobbie) Tickle of Laguna Woods, CA; 2 brothers-in-law, Larry (Kari) Young of Ogallala, Gary (Geri) Young of Scottsbluff; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in Lonnie's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared online at www.prairiehillsfuneralhome.com , where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend. The service will also be streamed live online at www.methodistchurchogallala.com .
Services will be on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ogallala with Rev. Chuck Rager officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday, from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala.
