Maria C. Fike, 90 of North Platte, formerly of Paxton, passed away January 15, 2021, at the North Platte Care Center.
Maria was born June 30, 1930, at Reichertsried, Germany to Georg & Cecilia (Sontheimer) Rinderle. She attended school at Bayersried before going to work on the farm alongside her grandmother. She would later continue her education at Moosburg before being hired by her uncle as a housekeeper at Friedburg. Maria subsequently worked at a sewing factory in Augsburg, and later, a nannie for two American families that were based in Germany at the time.
On March 2, 1957, Maria married Robert D. Fike, at Augsburg, Germany. A year later, the couple moved to the United States, where they eventually settled in Sutherland, Nebraska, where they farmed. The two would later move to the sandhills north of Arthur before moving to Paxton, where Maria worked at Swede's Bar for for many years, retiring at the age of 70.
Maria appreciated the quiet life, and enjoyed home, sewing, and dancing on occasion. She and her husband were longtime parishioners at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Paxton. Maria was a member of the Paxton American Legion Auxiliary, The German American Club, and St. Patrick's Altar Society.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Paul, Toni, and Karl; sisters, Resi and Anni; sisters-in-law, Erna & Maria.
Survivors include her husband, Robert "Doc" Fike of North Platte; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A private family Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Paxton with Fr. Bryan Ernest as Celebrant. Interment of Cremains will be in the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, NE.
