MICHAEL R. DAVISON, of Ogallala, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at Great Plains Health in North Platte.
Mike was born April 6, 1958 in Salina, Kansas to Richard and Mona (McCarthy) Davison. In the early 1970's, the family moved to Ogallala, where Mike was a graduate of Ogallala High School.
On November 14, 1980, Mike married Peg Wood at the First Congregational Church in Ogallala. The couple made their home in Ogallala and were blessed with 3 children, Jessica, Jordan and Blake. Mike was both industrious and imaginative, and it wasn't long before he decided to start a business that fit his interests, Mike's Repair. Despite no formal education in the auto-body field, his business grew along with his reputation for good work. Mike would eventually add mechanic service to his shop, which kept him quite busy, as was his preference.
In April of 2000, Mike was in a life-altering motorcycle accident that left him without the use of his legs. It wasn't long before Mike realized he didn't have the temperament for being stuck at home, and so he set to work on the next phase of his life. He developed and fabricated a complete system that would allow for him to safely and successfully operate a semi truck, and thus Mike's Towing and Repair was born.
Mike would have told you that his successes were as attributable to his stubbornness as they were to his inventiveness and imagination. When working on projects, he simply wouldn't quit until it was "right," his kind of right. Mike will be remembered by family and friends as spirited, hard working, creative and willful.
Mike enjoyed muscle cars and racing. He also enjoyed crafting things and a good challenge.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Mona; his grandparents, Herb and Mary Davison, Simon and Edith McCarthy; aunts, Virginia "Venie" McCarthy & Marie McCarthy; uncles, Michael McCarthy & Melvin Dunn.
Survivors include his wife, Peg Davison of Ogallala; father, Richard "Dick" Davison of Ogallala; daughter, Jessica Davison and her children, Kelbey and Myles; sons, Jordan Davison and his significant other Taylor Grafford and their family, Izick and Tripp all of Ogallala, Blake Davison of Ogallala; aunts, Carol Dunn of Roscoe; Karen (Jack) Green of Ogallala; Peggy Weston of England; uncles, Herbie (Sunne) Davison of Lincoln; Jerome (Anna) McCarthy of England, Simeon (Betty) McCarthy of England; special cousins, Sheila Apolius and Kevin Davison; longtime friend, Laura Levine of AZ; along with many other relatives and friends.
