REX A. WELSH, 64 of Littleton, CO, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017, at the Littleton Adventist Hospital.
Rex was born on December 5, 1952, in Ogallala, Nebraska to Henry and Elsie (Ivers) Welsh. He graduated from Ogallala High School in 1971. In 1973, he married Jody Croup and went on to attend Kearney State College. Rex later married Shelly Knaub in June of 1979, and their union was blessed with three daughters, Ashley, Addison, and Audrey.
Rex worked as a security and communications consulting engineer for several IT companies over the years, designing projects for non-profit, profit, and the public sectors to meet their security and voice data networking needs. He eventually started his own firm, Optimal Communications, in 2011. His generous spirit, sense of humor and willingness to go the extra mile extended into his professional pursuits, resulting in countless friends throughout the country.
Rex had a warm personality that made him easy to love. His wit and gregariousness left an impression but were not the extent of his depth. Beyond his handshake was a heartfelt generosity and willingness to help others. His home was a revolving door for people who might be down on their luck, traveling or just needing a place to stay. If Rex was your friend, it was more than just in name only.
As a father, Rex was uncompromisingly loving and patient. He was proud of his girls and always shared their accomplishments with others. Despite his busy work life, his daughters had his heart and always came first.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don; and an infant brother, Clayton.
Rex is lovingly survived by his 3 daughters, Ashley Welsh of Greeley, CO, Addison Welsh and Audrey Welsh both of Littleton, CO; 1 grandchild, Jayden Welsh of Greeley; sister, Jean (Norv) Elmshaeuser of Ogallala; brother, William (Sharon) Welsh of Culbertson; sister-in-law, Claire Welsh of Littleton; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in Rex's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
