RIKY DEAN ROGERS, 73, of Ogallala, NE, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at his home in Ogallala.
Rik was born June 25, 1949, in Syracuse, Kansas, to Burl and Julia "Fern" (Strobridge) Rogers. Riky grew up in Leota, KS, where he attended Leota High School. He subsequently attended a vocational tech school at Goodland, KS, where he studied construction.
On November 9, 1968, Riky married Constance "Connie" Day. In the Fall of 1970, he entered the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. Following his discharge, Riky and his family resided in Sterling, CO, where he worked at a TV Repair Shop. The family later moved to Ogallala, where Riky worked for an irrigation company, local farmers, and on the construction of Gerald Gentleman Station in Sutherland, before taking a job with OEMI (later, Arnold Engineering) as a machinist.
In 1991, Riky and Connie moved to Dodge City, KS, where he worked as a machinist for the gearbox manufacturer Curtis Machine. The couple returned to Ogallala in 2019 to be closer to family.
Riky enjoyed woodworking, cooking, fishing, and camping when he got the chance. He served as a Cub Scout leader while in Ogallala, which was something that he really enjoyed.
Riky was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ronnie, Burl Jr., Kenny, and Lelan.
Survivors include his wife, Connie of Ogallala; children, Ricky Dean and wife, Breanna Rogers Jr. of Ogallala, Melissa, and husband, Tom Haynes of Grant, Bret Allen Rogers of Grant; grandchildren, Heather, Kelly, Jessica, Cody, Dylan, Brian, Vincent, and Zachary; sisters, LaVerne Matney and Stella Hutton; along with many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Riky's life will be held at the Elk's Lodge in Ogallala, NE, Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 2 p.m. No inurnment is planned at this time.
