Robert Gene Potts, 40, of Paxton, Nebraska, passed away on March 26, 2025, in North Platte, Nebraska.
Robert was born at Warner Robins Air Force Base in Georgia on November 15, 1984, to Lyndale T. and Kelly Diane Emery Potts. Robert faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 2003 until his honorable discharge in January of 2008. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and spent time in Korea.
On April 20, 2008, Robert married Nicole L Phillips in Paonia, Colorado. The couple would eventually make their home in Paxton, where Robert lived and breathed wrestling. Robert was a dedicated wrestling coach for the high school, junior high, and youth programs, where he poured his heart into the kids and the sport. He loved and mentored countless kids in wrestling, baseball, and football.
Robert was preceded in death by both of his grandfathers.
Survivors include his wife, Nicole Potts of Paxton; his children James, Brysun, and Jocelyn; his parents, Ty and Kelly Potts; sister, Patrissa (JD) Hecht, and their son Andrew; sister-in-law, Natasha Brown; nieces, Christa and Courtney Brown; cousin, Brandon Brown; along with many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Robert's memory for later designation with the intent to support youth wrestling. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.
A celebration of life with military honors will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, from 2 PM until 4 PM central time at the D&N Event Center in North Platte, 501 East Walker Rd., North Platte, Nebraska. No inurnment is planned at this time.
