RONALD SAUERS, 82 of Julesburg, CO, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.
Ronald was born August 11, 1933 at Ogallala, Nebraska to John and Viola (Schoff) Sauer.
Ron attended school in Ogallala and several other local schools before eventually leaving school early to help his dad on the farm.
On August 26, 1951, Ron married Geneva Konkol at the Zion Lutheran Church in Big Springs. Their union was blessed with 8 children. Ron faithfully served his country from 1953-1956., and following his discharge he returned to the Big Springs area where he farmed and assisted other farmers in the area.
Ron enjoyed being a square dancing instructor and caller for many years for Moonlight Squares and Lone Tree Square Dance Club. He cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren. “A baby never stood a chance of staying awake if you put them on Dad’s chest in the recliner. Made no difference how cranky they were, he could always put them to sleep.”
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and a great granddaughter, Paizlee.
Ron is lovingly survived by his wife, Geneva of Julesburg; children, Debra (Kenneth) Hutsell; Rhonda (Tom) Hamilton, Michael (Zada) Sauers, Jeanne (Layton) Peterman, Patsy (Bryan) Kroeker, Carolyn (Mike) Schneider, Kandi (Brian) Zimmerman, Willard (Tammy) Sauers; 23 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Cara) Sauer; sister, Geraldine (Kenneth) Heidemann; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Charlotte (Steve) Boydston; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church in Big Springs with Rev. Trenton D. Christensen officiating. Burial will be in the Big Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 1-5 PM at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala.
