Rosetta "Rose, Rosie" Grigsby, 98, of Ogallala, Nebraska, entered her heavenly home on March 12, 2022, at Linden Court in North Platte, NE.
Rose was born October 7, 1923, on the Nebraska family farm in Arthur County to Walter L. "Roy" and Evaline "Eva" Lockhart Williams. She grew up on the farm and graduated from Arthur County High School in 1939.
On December 31, 1941, Rose and Thomas Robert "Bob" Grigsby were united in marriage at Grant, NE. Shortly thereafter, Bob was called to serve his country in World War II. When Bob returned from the Army, they made their home in Arthur, NE. In the late 1940s, they moved to Ogallala, NE.
In the early 1960s, Rose opened her floral, gift, and wedding gown business, The Rose Bowl. Her business gave her the opportunity to share her artistic abilities and to serve her community. She was an active member of The Rainbow Garden Club, Business and Professional Women's Club, and St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Rose and Bob retired to their home at Lake McConaughy where family and friends enjoyed their generous hospitality. They traveled to Texas and Arizona in the winter.
Upon Bob's death, Rose moved to Colby, KS. Desert Hot Springs, CA, became her winter home. Later, she returned to Nebraska and settled in North Platte. In North Platte, she continued to be involved in community activities and volunteer work until her health failed.
Rose loved life! She loved her family, gardening, traveling, square dancing, playing cards, fishing, hunting, painting, and playing board games. Her enthusiasm for working hard and playing hard was admired and respected by all.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings; her husband, Robert; her daughter, Beverly Biel of Colby, KS; and a grandson, Andrew Biel of Ogallala, NE.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters Joan (Dale) Clark of Grand Island, NE; Barbara (Steve) Woodrum of Gering, NE; Geraldine (Terry) Bechtel of Brule, NE; sister-in-law Arlette Williams of Wallace, NE; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established in Rose's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the services will be streamed live.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 10:00 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ogallala, NE, with Pastor Albert Bader officiating. Inurnment will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
