ROY G. OSBORN, age 73 of Brule, passed away May 9, 2016 at Great Plains Health in North Platte.
Roy was born June 7, 1942 at Arapahoe, Nebraska to Vernon and Bessie (Beatty) Osborn. He attended rural school in Keystone.
On March 12, 1976, Roy married Faye Kensinger in Ogallala, and the couple made their home in Brule. Roy helped on the McGinley Ranch for several years before eventually going to work at Goodall Manufacturing in Ogallala. He went on to work for Van's Lakeview Fishing Camp and Ness Construction before his retirement.
Roy was a man of many talents, who could work on just about anything. As a result, many of his days were spent as a handyman of sorts. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and camp. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife over the years.
Roy had proudly served many years in the Army National Guard. He was also a guest member of the Keith County VFW Post 3755.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; adopted son, Donald Lee; a grandson, Willie; and a brother, William Osborn.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Osborn of Brule; step children, Wendy Chmiel of Brule, Rick Boersen of FL; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Leona (Bill) Hendrix of Sutherland, NE; brothers, Ralph (Carol) Osborn of North Platte, Billy (Darlene) Osborn of Mullen; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in Roy's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the services will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Services will be on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Ogallala with Pastor Duane Dunwoody officiating. Burial will follow in the Brule Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, from 2 PM until 8 PM at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala.
