RUTH E. FREELS, 83 of Ogallala, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Perkins County Health in Grant.
Ruth was born January 7, 1933 in rural Anderson County, TN to Ruben H. and JoeAnna (Smith) Robinson. On February 26, 1956 she married Ben Freels in Oliver Springs, TN. The couple moved to Baltimore, MD where they made their home for 54 years. Ruth worked as a supervisor for the Baltimore Paper Box Company for more than 30 years, retiring at the age of 59. Ruth and Ben moved to Ogallala in June 2010 to be closer to family.
Ruth enjoyed spending time outdoors, taking care of her yard tending to her flower and vegetable garden. She was a "people person," and enjoyed interacting with others. Despite her affinity for people, her greatest fondness was reserved for her beloved dog, "Muff."
Ruth and her husband were members of the Baltimore Elks Lodge.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ben in 2010; parents; one sister, Blanna Smith; two brothers, John Robinson and J.B. Robinson; and a granddaughter, Melissa Williams.
Survivors include daughter, Barbara Dyches and her husband Rev. Ken Dyches of Ogallala; a grandson, Ken Dyches and his wife Elizabeth of Moreno Valley, CA; a granddaughter, Sonja Warren and her husband Jacob of Concord, NC; five great-grandchildren, Jacoby, Rodny, Cherina, Cherlisa, and Victoria; six great-great-grandchildren, Madison, Ian, Dakota, Matthew, Melissa, and Mariah; and a host of family and friends.
A memorial has been established in her memory. Condolences may be shared online at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed LIVE for those unable to attend.
Services will be on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala with Rev. Ken Dyches officiating. Burial will follow in the Ogallala Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1pm to 5pm at Prairie Hills Funeral Home.
