Shannon Marie Black, 49, of Bentonville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.
Shannon was born on August 28, 1970 in Ogallala, Nebraska. She spent most of her young life in Ogallala, where she worked at her family owned business, and spent most weekends cruising and hanging out at Lake McConaughy with friends. She graduated from Ogallala high school in 1989 and went on to attend Kearney State College.
In 1996, she married and to this union, she was blessed with twins, Cody Ryan and Caitlyn Marie in 2000.
In 2011, she was united in marriage to James Black. They built their life in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Shannon was a loving wife and mother. She spoiled her dogs, enjoyed playing Fantasy football, and always delighted in winning at Monopoly, a favorite family game. Shannon took joy in family gatherings where she loved to cook her famous Mac and cheese and no one ever left hungry. Her family and friends will always remember her witty sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Janice White.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, James Black of Bentonville, Arkansas; Son, Cody Gearhart of Tampa, Florida; Daughter, Caitlyn Gearhart of Tampa, Florida; Step daughters, Hannah Mask and Sarah Black, both of Bentonville; Her father, Larry White of Ogallala, Nebraska; Brother, Rod Hazelton and wife Kim; Nieces Alexa Hazelton, Hailey and husband Brady Darrough, all of Lincoln, Nebraska. Brother, Mahlon White and wife Kimberly; Niece Madison, Nephews Noah, and Grayson, all of Pleasant Hill, Iowa and her brother Liberty Hazelton, of Kansas.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at 3:00 PM at Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala.
