SHIRLEY CAUDY, 83 of Beatrice, former longtime resident of Keystone, passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 at her home in Beatrice.
Shirley was born February 21, 1933 at Kinsley, Kansas to Arthur and Gladys Stude. She attended and graduated from the School of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri.
On July 27, 1952, Shirley married Wesley T. Caudy at Ogallala. Their union was blessed with 2 daughters, Jody and Tammy. The family made their home and ranched in the Sandhills north of Keith County before moving to Keystone where they lived the majority of their married lives. Shirley had worked at Adams Bank and Trust for 43 years, retiring in 2007. In 2010, Shirley relocated to Beatrice to be closer to family.
Shirley had an eye for detail, which was observable in most everything she did, from her appearance to her decorating. She loved to entertain, and particularly loved holiday time and all that it entailed. When God blessed her with grandchildren, Shirley took the time to prepare and decorate each of their birthday cakes every year. In the recent years she spent in Beatrice, Shirley's home decor changed with the seasons, which was something she truly had fun with. Shirley came to appreciate Husker football at a later age in her life, but proved to be an ardent addition to the fan base. She was the matriarch of her family, and will be sorely missed.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley in 1991; infant great grandson Emmett Wesley; her parents Arthur and Gladys Stude, sister Jean Higgs and beloved brother and sister in-laws.
Survivors include her 2 daughters, Jody (Larry) Rice of Omaha, Tammy (JD) Lofing of Beatrice; grandchildren Jeffrey, Christopher, Carissa, Chase, Blake, Jennifer and Jessica; great grandchildren Jackson, Macy, Ivy, Truitt, Phoenix, Wesley, Sadie and Taylor; brothers Duane Stude, Jerry (Lynn) Stude, and Gayle Stude; sisters-in-law Mildred Smith and Dora Caudy; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial has been established in her memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the services will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at GracePoint Church with Pastor Curtis Tschetter officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 11, 2016 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala.
