Thomas Edward Malone, age 58 of San Antonio, passed away November 30, 2014 at his home in San Antonio, TX.
Ed was born April 5, 1956 in Levelland, Texas to Thomas L. and Freddie R. (Lowe) Malone. He attended St. Luke’s Elementary School and later graduated from Ogallala High with the class of 1974. During his time at Ogallala High School, Ed participated in student council, football, basketball and baseball. Ed went on to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business in 1978.
Following his education, Ed moved to Des Moines, IA to pursue a career as a stockbroker. In the early 1980’s, he moved to San Antonio, TX to continue his career with Shearson-Lehman Brothers. In 1984, Ed married Debra Gallegos in San Antonio, TX. Their union was blessed with 3 children, Thomas Everett, Mia and Jamie. Ed went to work for New York Life Insurance Company in the late 1980’s before eventually going to work for Brown Behavioral Health. At the time of his passing, Ed had been serving as the manager of a fund raising firm, Harris Connect, in San Antonio, TX.
While in school, Ed had been a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, as well as President of the Greek Society at UNL. He enjoyed music, playing guitar, soccer, golf, and hunting.
Ed was preceded in death by his mother, Freddie Malone.
Survivors include his children, Thomas Everett Malone of San Antonio, TX, Mia Malone of New York, NY, Jamie Malone of San Antonio, TX; his father, Dr. Thomas L. Malone of Ogallala, NE; 2 brothers, Dr. Danny (Stacia) Malone of Prosper, TX, Kelly (Lori) Malone of Golden, CO; sister, Molly (Christopher) Malone-Smith of Golden, CO; niece, Carlie Malone of Prosper, TX; 2 nephews, Erik Smith of Boston, MA (Hanscom Air Force Base) and Austin Smith of Colorado Springs, CO (United States Air Force Academy). along with many other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in Edward’s memory, they may be sent care of: Prairie Hills Funeral Home, at 602 North Spruce Street, Ogallala, NE 69153. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala with Father Bryan Ernest as celebrant. Memorial book signing will be on Friday, January, 2, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala with a Rosary beginning at 6 p.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church.
