Timothy C. Dovel, age 67 of Ogallala, passed away July 4, 2014 at the Golden Living Care Center in Scottsbluff.
Tim was born August 18, 1946 at Lincoln, Nebraska. He attended school in Lincoln before entering the U.S. Navy, where he served from 1965 to 1969.
Tim would build upon the skills he learned in Navy, to become a journeyman electrician. He earned credentials for inspecting nearly every element of construction projects, which allowed him to work as a building inspector throughout Texas for a number of years. On January 22, 1994, Tim was united in marriage to Ana Lucia Moreno by Father Bryan Ernest, at Alliance, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with a son, Timothy Julio, in addition to Tim’s 3 daughters. The family made their home in various communities in Texas, including Houston, White Settlement and Azle. Tim and his family moved to Ogallala in 2012, where they began a difficult struggle with his eventual diagnosis with cancer. Their hardships continued with the unexpected loss of their son in an auto accident in March of this year. The family takes solace in the thought that father and son are reunited in Heaven.
Tim was meticulous with his work as an electrician and building inspector, and worked hard to remain sharp in his trade. Tim loved fishing and watching wrestling on TV. He was an avid Husker fan and loved BBQ and cooking. Tim was proud of his Navy service, and was especially proud that his son had plans of following his footsteps in serving in the armed forces. Tim was sentimental, friendly and caring. He will be remembered as a loving father, husband and friend.
In addition to his son, Tim is also preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife, Ana Dovel of Ogallala; 3 daughters, Tiffany and Marie Dovel, both of Texas, and Niki Dovel of New York; father and mother-in-law, Cesar Julio and Nelly Moreno of Fusagasuga, Colombia, South America; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in his memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 1 p.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ogallala with Father Bryan Ernest officiating. A private family burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Lincoln on Wednesday.
