Vernon A. Redler

March 13, 1942 — May 5, 2023

Vernon Redler, age 81, of Ogallala, passed away on May 5, 2023, at the Imperial Manor, just one month after his beloved wife, Lois A. Redler.

Vernon was born on March 13, 1942, in Petersburg, Nebraska, to Arthur and Agnes (Bender) Redler. He grew up in Atlantic, IA, and attended Atlantic High School.

In March of 1964, Vernon entered the US Army and served in Vietnam as a heavy equipment operator. Following his discharge in February of 1966, Vernon returned home to Iowa. In October of 1967, Vernon married the love of his life, Lois A. Benedickt and their union was blessed with two children, Greg in 1968 and Bobbi Jo in 1969.

Vernon enjoyed a successful career in construction, building homes in Denver before founding Redco Erectors, a company he operated for many years. As one of the top erectors in Denver, his business became the second-largest business of its kind in the city during its operation. Vernon's strong work ethic, dedication, and expertise in his field were admired by all who knew him. He was a perfectionist, and his attentiveness to detail was evident in everything he did.

In 2016, Vernon and Lois settled in Ogallala to be closer to family. Most recently, he had been residing at the Imperial Manor.

Vernon had a passion for working, hunting, and remodeling. Vernon was a spur-of-the-moment kind of personality, often starting big projects on a whim and at a moment's notice. His adventurous spirit and can-do attitude brought excitement and energy to those around him.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Agnes Redler; his wife, Lois A. Redler; siblings, Betty Lou Luetticke and George Redler; and brother-in-law, Jack Kostszewa.

Survivors include his children, Greg Redler and Bobbi Jo Taylor, both of Ogallala; grandchildren, Keegan, Sara Jane, Gage, Mackenzie, and Emma Jo; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Novie; siblings, Marlene Kostszewa of La Palma, CA, LeeAnn (Rich) White and Sharon Hilton, both of Cheyenne, WY, and Joyce (Paul) Zielinski of Ogallala; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A memorial has been established in Vernon's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell. A memorial book signing, with family receiving friends, will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2023, from 2 pm until 4 pm at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala.
