WALLY W. GEURINK, 84 of Ogallala, passed away December 8, 2015 at the Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.
Wally was born December 12, 1930 at Council Bluffs, IA. At a young age, Wally was adopted by Henry W. and Fannie M. (Reinders) Geurink. He attended school in Orange City, IA. Wally went on to serve his country in WWII.
Following Wally's discharge from the service, he drove truck in Iowa and Chicago, before eventually moving to Denver. In the mid 1960's Wally obtained his realtor's license, and began a career with Van Schaack, and eventually, Metro Brokers. On November 12, 1983, Wally married Frances E. Baugh in Thornton, CO. His career as a realtor and broker blossomed over the years. Wally started Realty Executives in Denver, later selling the company to a Nationwide firm. In 1999 Wally stepped away from real estate with a longing to see the country, so he took up trucking for a few years before completely retiring in 2002. In 2006, Wally and Fran moved to Ogallala to enjoy spending time at the lake.
Wally was a member of Swap Club, Rotary Club, Optimist Club and the Board of Realtors in Colorado.
Wally was a "people person," and loved to socialize. He had a way of brightening the days of the people that he interacted with, and was able to build strong relationships over the years. Wally's faith was of immense importance in his life, and he wasn't shy about making that known.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eugene C. Geurink, in January of 2009.
Survivors include his wife, Fran of Ogallala; children, Sheryll Denise (Dick) Adkins of Baltic, SD, Donald (Diana) Thomas, Seattle, WA, Eugene Allison (Stephanie) Geurink of Arvada, CO; Molly Ann (Richard) Sledge of Timnath, CO; stepchildren, Charles Jackson, Terry (Shellie) Jackson, all of Oklahoma, City, Stacy Teaberry of Gonzales, LA, Kevin Jackson of Oklahoma City, OK; 20 Grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Jo Geurink of Alton, IA, Sally (Les) Bolen of MI; brother-in-law, Randy (Barbara) Zoll of FL; along with many other relatives and friends.
